1 is A | 2 is B

I love this article, via Make, about a product called the Water Cone. The concept is simple and elegant; I am a big fan of the design. Two issues that I wish they had addressed with this design:

• The product would probably be easy to make out of a 2 liter soda bottle. Why not have instructions for people to make this product (or a similar one) in addition to selling the pre-made version.
• The Design does not account for re-evaporation (re-distilling) of the gathered clean water. Instead of a cap on the top of the cone a hose may be able to remove some of the distilled water and increase the output of the cone.

Another thought is that this cone can be used anywhere. The website states that you should fill a black tray with salt water for purifying. The truth is that this cone can be set in a puddle (watch out for mosquitos), or on damp dirt (say in a forest, just push away the leaves until you get to the ground, it is surprisingly damp). Lot’s of great uses for this product because it takes minimal setup time.
