1 is A | 2 is B

I’ve made a few finds online recently that I think are really great:

• Yelp
  I feel like I’m a little late to the party on this one but at least in Chicago it seems like it is just catching on. I recently moved into the city, and not only that I moved into a section I knew nothing about: Avondale. I didn’t even know that was a neighborhood until after I signed the lease. (!) Anyways, I needed to find information about it: what’s cool, what to stay away from, where people go out, where people like to get gas, get their dry cleaning done, get their hair cut…you get the idea. Yelp has been a great tool in this regard. It is a social networking site built around reviewing businesses. This is like have a hundred helpful neighbors…who are indexed and searchable. I’ve been learning a lot and having a lot of fun based on their suggestions. I like it as a social network as well because it is based around providing valuable content rather than just being seen (like Facebook). For at home dining Yelp + Grubhub is a winning combo.

• DreamHost Blog
  Before you stop reading let me explain. I know I pimp Dreamhost a lot (I like them what can I say), but I would be reading this blog even if I wasn’t a customer. It is hilarious, and barely has anything to do with the company anyways. The author is so funny and original I find myself laughing aloud when I’m reading it. Give it a shot, I think you’ll enjoy it.

• Go Fug Yourself
  I feel a little late to the party on this one too…but that’s when the cool kids show up anyways so whatever. This blog is also seriously funny. I’m not sure it is for people who are not into fashion but my guess is it would be. Don’t let the girliness put you off, this writing is seriously funny stuff. For a real treat go into the archive and read the Britany Spears letters. You can thank me later.
