We live without a handbook most of the time. There are friends and family who know us and can share their experiences but for the most part it’s trial and error — trial by fire, live and learn, and a million more cliches. No blog can be the comprehensive documentation life is so desperately lacking…but it’s a start.
In some areas of life I think I have had average experiences and in others I think my experiences have been extraordinary. Sharing the successes and failures in a way that is useful to you is the purpose of this blog. This is not a diary, but micro-life-lessons (and maybe some big ones as well); I’m talking life lessons that save your money, your time, and your sanity, not your soul.
So, a little about me: I relocated from Boston to Chicago to get my Mechanical Engineering BS at Northwestern University. Now I work for an engineering firm just north of the city doing hardware and software solutions for the manufacturing industry.
I enjoy Linux, building bicycles, and mechatronics; I get a kick out of all DIY projects. I did some DJing on WNUR’s Rock Show in college and continue to love music.
I don’t get very technical or how-to’y in my posts here but I’d be happy to lend a hand if you see something that I did and want to know how; show me what you are working on or ask for my opinion via email.
Also, if you think you can take a decent picture of me let’s talk about making it happen. I can’t seem to do it myself!
