I recently upgraded; well for the purposes of this entry I mean only my monitor. Up until recently my home theater pc was displaying it’s amazing HD content on a 15″ CRT monitor that I had found in an alley during a rainstorm (true story). Needless to say, this was a non-ideal setup and a few weeks ago I replaced it with a 22″ Widescreen LCD with DVI input made by Samsung. I believe I can get 720p out of it. Anyways with all these pixels none of my desktop backgrounds looked quite right so I did some searching and here’s a round-up of some interesting images I found:
- 日本 and ブレ-ドラナ by Pascal_ over at flickr (some get up to 2048×1536px). I particularly like these (to name just a few):
- a Rachel Domm desktop
- A fun one of new york city,
I remember seeing these on Boing Boing so if you search I bet you’ll find a lot more out thereby eboy! - A large gallery of techno desktops. Hit and miss…but if it’s your thing the images are quite large.
- NASA: Astronomy Picture of the Day (of varying sizes)
- The Hadron Collider
